How to make the ABS with flame retardant property?


At present, the research on the flame retardant ABS resin mainly adopts the following methods:


1. In the synthesis of adding reactive flame retardant as the fourth monomer polymerization. The disadvantage is complex process, high cost and difficult to control.

 

2. Add polymer that with flame retardancy property and has certain compatibility with ABS, such as PVC, CPE etc...

 

3. Add Flame retardant agent. The addition of flame retardants is divided into two major categories of inorganic and organic, including organic halogen flame retardant flame retardant effect of good, but there is a burning black smoke and weathering the disadvantages. Inorganic flame retardant agent is composed of aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, this kind of flame retardant only add a lot to achieve certain flame retardant effect, but will deteriorate the mechanical properties and processing properties of ABS.

 

4. The composite method. Combines the above second and third methods, to comprehensive study on ABS flame retardant properties, mechanical properties and smoke suppression properties, so as to obtain the ideal of flame retardant ABS alloy materials.

 

The ABS plastic has good flame retardant effect mainly phosphorus, halogenated organic and some inorganic compounds, which inorganic flame retardant ABS in addition needed to reach more than 40% have the obvious results, also due to its added amount is large, thus seriously damage the ABS physical force performance. Phosphorus series flame retardant varieties, the number of less, and most of the liquid and low melting point compounds, does not apply to the ABS granulation process. The mechanical loss of ABS can be reduced by using it, but the disadvantage of poor thermal stability should be fully considered in the process of using. The study showed that ten of the common use of and Sb2O3 has a synergistic effect. When the DBDPO/Sb2O3 was 2: 1, the flame retardant efficiency was the best, and the oxygen index was the highest. The flame retardant mechanism of halogen free flame retardant agent produced by the decomposition of hydrogen halide gas is non combustible gases, dilution and hydrogen halide can inhibit burning polymer chain reaction, while adding auxiliary flame retardant of Sb2O3 and HBr was sbbr3 relatively high density, coverage on the surface of the polymer.
